Ardennes Coticule?
Would anyone know which layer the currently "Selected Coticules" are mined from? If you have recently ordered one, I'd really like to know.
I've inquired about it with Ardennes themselves, but haven't gotten a reply yet. (Will let you know when I do)
I know their Selected Plus were supposedly coming from the La Veinette layer.
If anyone has any info, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanked: 133I saw some recently mined coticules on sale recently that were supposedly marked la Grosse Juane and Dressante. But that might of just been something the guy penciled in. Although it does appear a lot of the recent coticules are the strongish/bright yellow looking coticules with some having red specks. Here are some nice options for anyone looking

Those are some very fine stones, I got an e-mail back saying that the layer I informed about is in stock and that I can place an order for it.
For straight razor users, I think inquiring about the layer you would like to have is a good idea before placing an order, they're happy to help you and I'm very glad with their customer service

Thanked: 133Awesome, add pictures whenever your stone comes in. I love the different kind of feedback you can get from coticules

Thanked: 1These came to me this August 2019. They won't label for vein at the mine unless they're 100% sure about the vein, and the veins seem to get mixed up during the mining process. So, if they're mining these areas you might be getting these veins even though they might not be labeled.

The stone arrived today, I must say the quick and superb service from Ardennes was a pleasure.
I got a really nice stone and it's pretty thick! I have a comparison pic next to my other La Grise.
The Coticule side has a couple of Manganese marks and the BBW side has a couple of purple dots, I was told a long time ago that this was a mark of a high quality stone.
I'm very pleased with my purchase, outstanding stone and service.
Has anyone compared a La Grise to a La Grosse Jaune?
Added some pictures if anyone is interested here:

How to characterise...
The Grosse Jaune is gives the classic "buttery" edge. I find it trickier than a La grise, which I prefer. It is slower and needs a bit more care with dilution. I have got the best results using lather in the finishing stages.
