I have exactly that synthetic setup, and yeah, I lap it with the good old DMT 325 as others do, and generate slurry for a lot of steel removal with the brown turd (only on the Chosera 1k). I hear you on its perceived fineness, though-I swear it finishes in the neighborhood of 4k when I really tweak the bevel set. The Norton 4k side is then a cinch, then just polish to near mirror on the Norton 8k (which is much finer than the Chosera 1k, even as fine as it is). Then finish up on the Nani12 and on to naturals if that floats your boat.

Either way, excellent choice in what is the most important stone in your arsenal, the 1k bevel setter.
