    So many different varieties/colors/crystal structures/impurities of quartz.

    Go to any rock show and you should be able to get a variety.

    I second Marty in the King. I have never used their 6k but the 1k, especially for the cost, is a home run. Get yourself a 300-400grit diamond plate for lapping and eventual reprofiling and chip removal for restores. The diamond plates are also fantastic for knives, then straight to the 1k.

    There are faster hones on the market but cost 3-4x’s more.
