Default Maxim is selling some very nice Nakayamas

I hope this is the right place to post this, if not, I hope one of the mods will put it where it belongs.
Maxim is a member here IIRC, I once bought a very nice stone off him. I browse his site every so often if I have a very dry mouth.
Deep pockets are essential I am afraid.

I wouldn't say "No" to that.

That’s a really high price (~$2,300 US) for a 60-cut (190x70) stone with a corner fall. If it had all 4 corners, a little thicker, and kiita all the way through, maybe for a high roller.

Natural whetstone prices have gone nuts over the past few years. A boxed YG Escher BD with rubber brings silly money. A friend here is into the Glanrafon and Fiddich stones, many of those are bringing multiple hundreds now. Jnats have always been high, but those have probably increased close to 30% over 5 years.

Nice stone but way over priced for the normal user....

I have bought all my stones from Maxim over the years..
One thing i have noticed is the lack of his stock, he does mention (somewhere i recall) they are getting harder to find.. .. Maybe a lack of stock could be driving up the prices?

His prices may not be the cheapest, but he will work with a customer, and provides excellent customer service. I purchased an Ozuku from him. After flattening, when I began honing on it, it was apparent there was a hairline crack going about 1/2 across. He replaced it no charge, letting me keep the original stone...

Agree, his after the sale service is excellent. I bought a ‘standard’ natural red aoto, about 1-1/4” thick, but it had a large hollow in the middle of the back, so it was effectively about 1/2’’ thick, and this is a soft stone. He replaced it with a ‘thick’ version, and paid the freight.

Mines closed long time ago so basically it is all NOS.The ones with all the right stamps are becoming very expensive collector items. Jnats coming from barber shops are a good option if you want to spend less and still get an excellent performer.
