Default Woodcraft clearance on Guangxi China hones

Came across this by accident today. The reviews seem a little hit and miss. For the price I don't see a downside .

    There's also an 8x2x1 size for $11.

I swear I'm not trying to set off anyone's HAD.

I don't. I've got two of the critters - neither of them any good for razors. I've heard about 1 in 4 are OK and at 11 bucks might be worth a punt. They're 40 something dollars in this country so not worth experimenting on when there are fail safe alternatives available, although at a considerable premium on that money.

Just looked up the Australian supplier: $64.95 for the large stone now for a "Mujingfang Natural Water Sharpening Stone – 13,000+ Grit"

Had one, gave it away.. Would create a edge that was too sharp, for shaving comfortably. Not chippy, or leaving a thin fin....just to sharp for comfort, unless you spent some serious time on the strop to tame it down.

I have never met an edge that was too sharp. Yes, the edge and become too harsh if you overhone on some stones. I find the same thing with a Naniwa 12K SS.

I like to go even finer than 12K to get an edge that is very sharp without being harsh.
