Thanked: 56Thanks Mike. Now I know where to look up how to use it.

do you have some side views? is it all the same color? It looks like it might be rather dirty and it definitly needs a good lapping.

Thanked: 56Hey Tintin, here are a few of more pictures of the sides and end. Also added something for scale. It is a charcoal grey on all sides. It doesn't seem to have a big color change when it is wet.
Based on some research it seams like natural stones are all used kind of the same way, right? You can either make a slurry or use it for fine polishing with water or oil.

Thuringian hone. Is that a part of a label on the one side?

Thanked: 56Thanks Peter. I don't think that it is a sticker. But, I can't really be sure. Seems more like it transferred from something it sat up against or bumped into.
Thanks Christian1. I may not get to that tonight, but I will work on that. I suppose it is best to scrape it for a while and then get a new piece of sandpaper so I make sure I am getting the stone and not some sort of dirt/grime on top of it.If you're wondering I'm probably being sarcastic.
