do you have some side views? is it all the same color? It looks like it might be rather dirty and it definitly needs a good lapping.

Hey Tintin, here are a few of more pictures of the sides and end. Also added something for scale. It is a charcoal grey on all sides. It doesn't seem to have a big color change when it is wet.

Based on some research it seams like natural stones are all used kind of the same way, right? You can either make a slurry or use it for fine polishing with water or oil.

    Thanks

Thuringian hone. Is that a part of a label on the one side?

Looks sort of like a stone that used oil to me. Would flatten it and take pics of the slurry

Thanks Peter. I don't think that it is a sticker. But, I can't really be sure. Seems more like it transferred from something it sat up against or bumped into.

Thanks Christian1. I may not get to that tonight, but I will work on that. I suppose it is best to scrape it for a while and then get a new piece of sandpaper so I make sure I am getting the stone and not some sort of dirt/grime on top of it.
