If you really want to have a go at it.....I've had good, fast results with white silica sand on concrete. It may go faster than you think. Then move on to SiC. You can always stop but at least you can say you tried. I'd give it a go.

Even if you don't go all the way to the bottom you could at least diminish the size. At least that might make it easier to skip over or miss while honing from the other side.
