Thanked: 0Sharpening stones to identify
I just uploaded photos of part of my collection online, at least the ones that have been restored. They are divided into three categories based on the area of purchase: those I bought in Italy, those I bought in the UK and those I bought in Europe. If you want to take a look and add something to identify them do me a favor. There are many more photos on the restoration of the stones on Facebook, online I can only put two photos for the moment. I will take some new photos next year, maybe on a white background. for the moment I must be satisfied. The restoration takes a lot of time. I also remember that it is not always possible to obtain a good view of the surface, the oil sometimes re-emerges even after months and the color changes towards darker shades.
Obviously I don't think photos like this are enough, but at least you can have a general look and maybe understand if you can add more information.
If there is any other specific question or need more photos I can take them.

Thanked: 2209.
.
Welcome to SRP.
.
Thanks for posting the pics of your hones. They look like a wonderful collection that all of us here on SRP would love to try on our razors.
.
May I suggest that your future photo's include a closeup of any labels or stamps on the hone. Also, a pic of the side of the hone to see if there are any layers or saw cut marks.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanked: 0I just got a very nice sharpening stone ... the grandson of a carpenter who died in the 70's. Big size, hand saw marks (straight ones, not circular ones), definitely a hard stone. Never seen one like it.
Need flattering, these stones are always worn in the middle. In so many years I have never found a stone sold in this country that has been flattered.
Thanks
