Default Re-Release of the French La Lune Stones

A hard year 2020 has passed, everybody was in any way connected to the changes due to Corona. As the year 2020 luckily has passed by, we are happy to announce another update for the future. After several years of work in the form of research of the history and furthermore experimenting with the Purple-Red La Lune Stones we are happy to announce that we actually try to re-release the purple-red „La Lune“ Stones.

So far I can only tell that we are doing this with the greatest respect of the ancient Producers and Suppliers because we appreciate and love their work, their product and the Trademark as it was created many years ago.

The re-release will be done with strict rules we set up to ourselves, this means how we source the material and how we deal seriously with our idea.

Our research and our approach was always to do this as team work. Practically speaking, not only „US“ four did the work, everybody adding a small piece in some of the Shaving or Razor Boards might have set up another piece of the puzzle, so in the end we could reach the goal where we are now standing...

Right now we have to discuss and decide some serious topics for the re-release. As you all might know that is not an easy task..we hope that we can come up with another Update soon.

The final product will be marketed under the registered Company from Nicolas.

    Best regards

Nicolas Rollin, Jethro „Fikira“, Alan Greene and Sebastian „Doorsch“

I like my La Lune, I am afraid I do not use it often enough as I prefer wider hones.
I think those new ones would be a very useful addition to the natural hone toolbox. Especially if they can be made available in large enough numbers to satisfy demand.

Many thanks to you guys for your research and efforts to make these stones available again.

@ Sebastian: my La Lune is a dual hone, do you know what hone the honey-coloured side is?

There will be some of the old selected sizes available, also a well known and loved Barber Size format in 5x2inch. There will be a possibility to get custom sizes i think.

@kees: FGBC also sold Coticules under their Trademark, so probably youre Stone is a Coticule. Feel free to post here or sent me a picture of that stone...

Some pics, artificial light, dining table. Won't be till next weekend that I can take pics with proper daylight.
The colour of the yellow stone is best depicted in the first picture. It is a bit more orange than the coticules I have ever seen. I have visited Ardennes Coticule 3 times. Not only for the stones: they brew an excellent beer locally that is not available elsewhere.

    Hey Sebastian,

Just to say that the beloved barber's format of old in the States was 5 x 2 inches, or a 2.5 to 1 ratio. ~125mm x ~50mm in metric terms.
