Kramer Zwilling Glass stones
A few months ago my Naniwa Chosera 5k broke in two. Just a tap against another stone and the crazing gave way so i opted to replace it with the Kramer Zwilling 5k Glass stone and i bought the Kramer Zwilling 400 grit glass stone because i do a lot of edge restoration work.
The 5k is just perfect for me, the feedback is pure pleasure. I think it is the old Chosera 5k but with less polishing formula.
The 400 grit is also a pleasure to use and now my go to coarse stone.
I was looking at the Suehiro Gokumyo 10k but now i am set on the Kramer Zwilling 10k as i am a massive fan of my Chosera 10k.
The 1k stone i may leave alone because i do not think the Shapton Glass 1k stone can be beat ..Temptation may see me test that theory.
The stones are reportedly manufactured by Chosera, that maybe a branch of Naniwa or a seperate company, either way i think these stones or at least the 400/5000 versions should be held in high regard .

Joseph, I have read these stones are Chosera Naniwa super stones mounted on glass.

Thanked: 3215If they load up, they may be Super Stones, but I do know that the 8k Snow White is like none of the other Chosera line. I have heard good thing about the 10k but do not have one. I have heard the 10ks craze as well.
The Snow white is aggressive and super polisher that can equal the 12k in finish, but they craze and can crack. Even crazed mine still works just fine. I bought a new replacement but it does not polish as fine as the old one, perhaps once it breaks in.
I like it so much I bought an extra, back up in case they stop selling them.
The glass may be similar to the Snow White and glass backed to prevent crazing. The Super Stone load up is a Pain in the butt and will damage an edge. You should lap a Super Stone clean for the final finish laps or the swarf can chip the edge. For that reason, I have not used a Super Stone in years.
I usually do a 1/4/8k Snow White progression then to a natural from the pristine Snow White bevel.

Yeah, my snow white looks like a hard boiled egg, that's been rolled on a counter.
No problems though.Mike

Thanked: 3215No 5k, but do have a 1,4,8 and 12k Super Stones and they all load up.
If it does not load and is a good fast cutting polisher it is probably not a Super Stone.
Interestingly these stones have been around for several 4-5 years and there is little written about them. I have wondered why, whatever the composition of the Snow-White stone, that line was never expanded. But then again, we, are a very small market in the whole sharpening stone industry.
I have understood that the Chosera, was a line of stones, made by Naniwia.

I use the old Chosera 1K, 3K, and 5K, they are very different to the Super stones, I also own the Naniwa Snow White 8K, with the Prawn stamp which is a super polishing stone.
