Hone ID
Could anyone please help me identifying these hones,
I think the smaller one was sold to me by a very knowledgeable chap as a Thuringer stone, but I'm not 100% positive anymore.
The larger was one once sold to me as a BBW, but it most certainly is not.
I think it's the same stone as the smaller one.
Since I sold my old boxed Thuringer/Escher a while ago I can't make a direct comparison by looks.
The light might have over-saturated them a bit and they look a tad darker IRL.
They're uniformly grey with some small hints of a black dot in them, they feel very smooth.
The slurry they produce is light grey, once the slurry is dried up it's more white-ish / very light grey.
Thanks in advance!

Thanked: 4826My Escher did not slurry that colour. I do have a Welsh slate that does have a very white slurry. It does look a lot like a Welsh slate too. There are a couple hone collectors that have fairly extensive pages.

Thanked: 556I wonder if it is a pierre la lune.
I’ve never seen one in person, but the pics in the following thread kind of look like what you have.
