It makes you wonder why some fellow several hundred years ago decided to pick up a random rock from the ground and rub his blade on it only to find out how it improved the edge.
Now that I think of it, we have some SRP members who still do the same thing.

The romans were mining coticules, so that is at least a few thousand years ago.
