    Default Escher discoloration

I found this escher but not being at all a specialist in these, I don't really know... The stone has a discoloration in certain places, is this a bad sign or something natural? If someone can tell me a little more about this stone (color, defects...). Thanks

That appears sometimes if the stones had been mined from border areas of one layer to another or if the layer was close to the earth surface. I wouldn't rate this generally as a fault and from the pictures I would not expect problems in honing with the discoloration. I also don't think that the Escher company would have putten their label on a stone with such obvious defects if they are serious.
However only the practical use will show if the discoloration won't have negative effects on honing.

Thanks for your feedback. This confirms what I thought... Do you know the color of the stone, is it a yellow green?

    Nice one Mike!
There are also some Thuringians with discoloration or mixing of layers in a beautiful way which I call cloudy thuringians. You can find find some nice examples in this old thread:

A shame you missed the last one. Buy it if the price is right.

Not sure that this is a yg. Might be - but some better pictures are necessary. The company is J. G. Escher & Sohn.
