I'll give that a try, I was under the impresion it should follow a 10 or higher. (So you think lapping on a 1K wet dry is enough?)

I think 1k is enough, that's what I have always used.

I follow the rule of "use the least aggressive method first", then gradually coarser if necessary. So start with the 10k followed by the Thuri, and evaluate the results. You will learn the razor steel and the hone in that process.

When honing with slates, if I lap it, I follow that with a generous and even rubbing with the rubbing hone of the same making. I have done this my my eschers and it seems to be all they need. If you don’t have a rubbing stone with it then I do what Randy Said’s. Also when raising a slurry with a rubbing stone I seem to get better action with very low amounts of water. The fun of these types of hones is playing with the slurry. It adds a new dimension. I like to use my slate finishers after and 8K or 10K synthetic. 8K if I’m plannning on playing in the mud and 10K if I’m just finishing on musty to straight water.
