    Hello everybody,

I apologize for the inconvenience, but it turns out that this stone is a chemical and not natural!

I was misled by the traces of glue left by the diamond label on the "La Lune" stones!

Does anyone here know if there were any chemical stones under the La Lune brand?

In any case, it's the finest stone I've ever had so far, it leaves a pure mirror result, here is a test on a knife.

Yes, Carborundum made a very good SIC razor hone as did Pike although their brand name for SIC is Crystolon. They are very hard too. They're made out of silicon carbide which is what we normally use to flatten stones.

have no idea. Got it in a box of clunkers n junkers.

Tried it out on a buddy of mines hone, just the other day.

I'd had it soaking for weeks, forgot all about it, till he called about it. I thought it was an Ark, till I scrubbed it. Fought like hell getting the surface cleaned up with sandpaper, Then I remembered the conditioning hone. Was like 220Grt. to a Coti. IMO

A long time ago my brother had a sharpening stone that was dished so I decided to try to flatten it. The only tool I had was sandpaper plus various types of lubricants. Long story short, use WD-40 on sandpaper, it does not loosen the bond of the abrasive from the paper. Lasts much longer.
...and yes, Silicon Carbide sandpaper is much better than aluminum oxide sandpaper for the job.

Evidence why you don't take advice from "knife guys" or let them touch your razors or stones. Read down a few posts. They get better as you go.

You'll need one bigger than I have. Don't know what it's made of, but its light weight, and wears down pretty quick.
