    Default Thuri green/blue combo

Struck a gold mine today! Actually this has been a very good month as far as finding fine natural stones in the wild. ( I wish I could post picks but for some reason I haven't been able to lately). Question is, did they make (glue together) a combo green/blue Thuri stone ? (it's not a natural as you can see that there is a seem. It measures 10" x 2" (no label but some residue of some on the end.

Also in the same box with 7 other various hones was a 3 x 10 Coti ! It's glassy smooth so I am hesitant to lap it. It is slightly concave but not bad.

I don't believe they sold a glued together blue green stone.
The 3x10 coti may have been a Microtome hone, they were quite large as a rule.
Yellow/green and blue/green had the most noticable transition when in the same stone but it was a natural seam and often tapered when viewed from the end. Blue/greens themselves were more homogenous in color.

    Good morning. 6 AM here.
It is much to early for me to be posting but here is a suggestion for posting pics.
First create an Album here on SRP. Then upload the pics to that album.
When posting in a thread use the address of the pic in your album.

This is a link to my Album...

Once you have the Album created and a pic uploaded, then right click on the image and select "Copy image address"
Then from the top of the screen when you are creating the thread select "insert Image", then select "From URL" then Control V to paste the URL into the address box.

I think I've got it. First a group photo as found. You'll see the prizes in the front. The rest are random pieces of naturals, carborundum and warn pieces. Did I mention that I had to pay a whopping $5 for the lot (didn't even have to think about it)

Here's the Thuri like stone, notice the corner image that shows the seem. Sorry about the image quality,if you zoom in on it you can see a chip between the two pieces.

Wow! Nice find and what a price !

I'm far from an expert but that seam looks natural from the pics although some are joined better than others. I'm sure it's more easily discernable in person.

Sorry but it doesn't look like a natural seam to me.
Second photo (Large one), because of the light background you can see a small indent at the seam on the right side. Its also ridiculously straight for a natural seam.
Are you sure its in fact a Thury? It could be a dark Coticule - think la Gris.
A loupe will tell you if the darker side is BBW or even the light side if its a Coti. They look very different from a Thury under magnification and you don't need much to see it.
The other Coticule however, fantastic find!!

Ya the seam is too perfect. It may be some kind of oil stone?

That pic is from Charlie's I think. The bowling ball vise and Vic's Bondo are dead giveaways!
