    Default Franz Swaty

Hello, I'm wondering if any of you know anything about this? I found it in the basement, I'm interested in what year it is from and if it can be restored, or if it will lose value. I literally couldn't find a single one with those words on the internet.

    FRANZ SWATY

Pretty rough looking not sure if it would be worth trying to restore. You will have to just try.
The fact that it has Marburg on it dates it as a second generation or third.

Hello, I sent an email to the company whose past is Franz Swaty, this is what they replied to me, if anyone is interested:

You have found a whetstone for sharpening razors based on a mineral binder. Based on the given data on the whetstone, I estimate that the product was created in the first years of the factory at the Maribor location (after 1886), just before the First World War (it probably dates to the beginning of the 20th century) . The grinding stone was made according to a patented process and was exported to European countries and also to the USA (initially the company exported to 19 markets). Unfortunately, we do not keep more information about this grinder either, as the company's archive was destroyed during the Second World War and we have little information about production before the Second World War. I have to agree.
Even in great shape they are not worth much, and that one is rough looking. The binder is probably suffering too.
The best of the Swaty's are considered to be the three line original,
    Franz Swaty
    Wahring Bei Wien
    Austria
And they are a dime a dozen really.
