    Default Dixie Razor Hone?

I picked this up a couple of months ago on Ebay.

It is called the Dixie Razor Hone. It looks like a Swaty, only a little smaller in all dimensions.

Instructions on the package say "A few strokes will keep your razor sharp!" and it says to use it with lather.

It is not as dark as the Swaty, and the grain appears coarser.

I actually love this stone and use it all the time.

Anyone else have any experience with these?

Curious to see if your dixie looks like this? I just picked this one up on ebay. Do you still use it? I'm new to honing and plan on starting with a barber hone. Any tips? (e.g. did you lap it, etc...)

    Thanks!

No need to lap a barbers hone as they come ready to use. 4-6 laps and a slightly off razor should come back in line. It looks as if someone messed around a little with yours, use it and see what it does.

BTW Do you realize how old this thread is? LOL At least you did your research.

It's not so much the thread is old but the OP hasn't posted since 2008.

    Hi guys,

Saw that this thread is pretty old, but wondering if I could get some help on the setup of this Dixie hone, which is 1 7/8 X 5 X 3/8? Picked it up off ebay for $10. I saw the reply above about not lapping barber's hones, but shouldn't I lap this guy, as there are some pretty deep scratches?

Thanks Hirlau, I didn't see this until now. I lapped it and it has really been great for touch ups!
