Hiya Howard, you have a cutlers green hone?
Whats it like? Any chance of a picture?

I have sent them an email today.
10 days so far! I wonder if this is the way British mines operate?

Got in to work today to find a post office card saying they had tried to deliver a package to big has been sent to the local sorting office so will have to wait 48hrs to find out if it's the hone or something else I've ordered of the net or e-bay

Spoke to the lady at Inigo Jones. I asked where my hone was, The Lady said "He still hasn't finished them yet"! I said "What do you mean?" she said " He (mine owner) is still polishing them"
I asked her if they were just slate, she rang the guy to ask him, to which he replied "They are a certain type of stone - like slate or a certain type of slate"
So, they are still being finnished!!! They haven't forgotten about us.
I can't wait to see them..... lets hope it's worth the wait.
Also the Lady told me they had four more orders straight after mine!

Just curious if anyone who ordered a Dragon's Tongue hone has received it yet, and if so, what they thought of it for using with straights.
I was considering getting one myself, but the company selling them seems to take a long time to ship.

This is a neat website and I hope to some day visit the quarry. I do wonder about slate for honing razors though! It's just so darned soft and there's nothing in it like garnets that are in the coticule. Slate is the metamorphosed form of shale which is a sedimentary stone made from compressed mud. Slate is a bit harder and it cleaves better than shale while still holding together. That quarry was big into roofing slate in its heyday but now that's minimal. They do have a "fill up your boot (trunk)" offer for low money on Sundays.

I'd just like to have a stone called Dragons Tongue in my collection!
