The belgians use slate to back up the softer coticule but not as a hone in and of itself.

I'd love to get a Charnley Forest as well. It's one of the few natural hones I don't have represented in my extensive collection.
    Yes, ok. What size do you want 2 1/4" X 8" or a 2" X 9"
    They both have wooden boxes.
Shall I PM you the sellers details?
I'd love a little Belgian Blue, if I'm right and you feeling generous.
He quoted £25 for the 9incher and £20 for the 8incher
Told you I'd find one or two

Just curious if anyone who ordered a Dragon's Tongue hone has received it yet, and if so, what they thought of it for using with straights.
I was considering getting one myself, but the company selling them seems to take a long time to ship.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

It's arrived. It's 8x2x1/2". It is a medium grey colour dry and nearly black wet.The edges have been beveled, the two "faces" have been "milled" rough, the slate is very dense and stable (a bit like me).Where it has been cut on the ends, it is very smooth, far smoother than the large surfaces or sides. I think it is more abrasive than my Tam.
It came in a cardboard box.

    Still waiting for mine too...

...oh, wait, I only ordered it this morning

No, seriously, I had to order it simply because of the name. If it's not suitable for razors, I'll put it up for display or use it for my kitchen- and pocket knives.
