Even more hones under microscope
Not to clutter the recent threads, plus my microscope is different, so I decided to post some more pictures in case it's helpful to people.
Equipment:
(1) Vintage Leitz Vetzlar (Leica) optical microscope - original Leica optics. Eyepiece 10x, objectives 10x and 45x for magnifications of 100x and 450x.
(2) Canon PowerShot SD700IS digital camera.
(3) Incandescent bulb desk lamp
Procedure:
(1) Set the white balance of the camera using a piece of thick white paper.
(2) Place hone under the microscope and focus on the surface
(3) Place camera to rest on top of eyepiece. Camera is set on wide angle, macro mode, lowest gain of the sensor, automatic metering (aperture/shutter), 2 second delay to avoid vibrations from shutter pressing. Focus and take a picture - one picture at 100x magnification and one at 450x.
(4) Crop the pictures
(5) Upload to SRP

I guess I'll let you guess the origin of this one too.

I know that SRP has a limit of the size of images it stores and rescales them on upload. I also have the original images, which are roughly 1600x1600 pixels (exact numbers depending on my cropping). However since storing them on another server and linking to them here can make them disappear should something happen with the URLs I decided in favor of smaller, but more permanent pictures.
