Agreed English, you have to get your sharpness on other hones but as a final polish to yield a smooth, comfortable shave, a Y/G Escher can't be beat. Of course this one probably cost $20.00 US or less back in the day. My bud's asking price is $700.00 US! Of course, $20.00 US back at the turn of the last century was a $20.00 Gold Piece. One of those with a common date runs well over $1000.00 US today, so looking at it that way, the stone is a bargain. I believe I've talked my way into buying it, a master of self-deception and HAD justification I am, Kees, where are you when I need you!!!

    Blaireau,

We are trying to save you from yourself. I honestly think the the only difference between my stone and the one you desire is the labeling.

I think mine is just as vintage and will do the same job.

But I totally understand. There are things I've purchased that rock my boat. I've never regretted it. Not everything comes down to just money.

English, I'm the guy that convinced Gary (Gerhard Richter) of Timbertools to have his German contacts look into these stones. The first one that he ordered was for me, later he ordered ten more for me which I arranged to sell to a contact here in the States and now he sells them, at an incredibly low price! The one that you have is a particularly beautiful one. It is what I asked for, Y/G stones. May I ask when you bought it? Some of the earlier stuff looked pretty mottled not uniform like yours and didn't seem to have that Y/G dried peas glow. Perhaps they are finally getting to the Y/G veins that I originally asked for.

I received the hone in April of this year.

My daughter-in-law is German and I asked her to buy the stone for me. The stone came direct from MST in Germany. I don't think I got special stock. I think I must have just been lucky. My daughter-in- law said that the Company had told her that normally they do not deal direct with the public. So I was lucky that she managed to make the purchase for me.

Absolutely nothing. I have got one. It's really really good............

Look, it's even the same color. Shorter but wider and I love it. Oh and it comes with its own rubbing stone which is even greener.

How can I help you? And no, I am not selling my Y/G!
