Sanwa Precision Diamond Stone
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this particular hone Namikawa Heibei Co.,Ltd. I have a 1k Trend Diamond Benchstone at the moment which is working double duty as a bevel setter and a lap for my other hones; I was thinking of getting the Sanwa as a dedicated bevel setter and keeping the Trend for lapping.
Regards,
Alex

It's a little spendy don't you think?
what takes you to Namikawa? Fine folks btw. Great english communication and the best wrapped packages you will ever receive, artful really.
If you are looking for something other than DMT; the Atoma plates are a lot better than my first impression- a little cheap looking- they work nice and are just a little flatter than DMT- according to my straightedge at least.
I'm not trying to talk you out of sanwa. I love to hear reviews. Another that peaked my interest before i found atomas is the King brand 1000 diamond

I've had the site bookmarked for a while now. I think it was rgdominguez who posted a link some time ago, and I must admit the romantic allure of using similiar products to Japanese swordsmiths on my razors was very strong. Although many sword polishing techniques aern't directly transferable to straights, more recently I've been toying with the idea of finishing some blades using nugui. I read an article on hybrid polishing, where it recommended going upto 1500-2000 using sandpaper, and then I thought finishing with more traditional techniques, like the nugui could be an option for straights.
As for the Sanwa, the fact that it is rather spendy and that it seems to be largely unknown only serve to increase my interest, the stones aren't even listed on the Sanwa Abrasives website. Also, being highly susceptible to advertising, the word precision in it's name had me snared almost immediately
Kind regards,

I couldn't find the King diamond stone online anywhere. It was over 200$. An atoma with base is 184 at hida tool.
Naniwa has a weird one; comes with a conditioning stone and is green. available at japan woodworker.
So the sanwa is not too far out of range really I suppose. If it makes you feel better I know a couple of sword polishers who use shapton 1k and 2k
(i've never used nugui. It might do something neat looking if you started with the right finish surface)
