Thanked: 13249DMT Question???
If I were looking to buy a DMT 8x3 that the only purpose of buying it would be, to lap natural stones, and barbers hones, what would be the one that I wanted????? This would only be used as a lapping plate, for those stones not for my Shaptons, my GDLP is used for those....
I guess also is that my best choice??? under $100
And is the best one for this use avaiable at Woodcraft???
Thank You, to you DMT experts out there in advance

That would be the DMT D8C. 325 grit.
the cheapest place to buy them is the craftsman site.
Do a forum search for craftsmen or craftsman I forgot the URL.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Heyas, Glen!
This site http://www.craftsmanstudio.com/html_p/T!D8.htm is 15 bucks cheaper on the DMT8C, and they have free shipping. You'll save huge by shopping at craftsmanstudio.com it's where I bought my Shaptons from, too.
I've been doing my big-job lapping with 3m paper on glass, then going to the DMT8E, then to really make em smooth the DMT8EE. Stiction gets to be a bit of a problem, but it's worth it for the smooooooooth surface the 8E or 8EE leaves.
Edit: Craftsmanstudios ships from San Diego, so it doesn't take forever to get shipments from them to Utah or I Da Ho.Last edited by FloorPizza; 01-17-2009 at 08:46 PM.

+1 on D8C from Craftsmanstudio. Laps the shapton nicely, too.
