    Thanks for that Jimmy.
I had forgotten about drawing a grid (been away)

also, I had forgotten how ugly my hands are

I'm going to go hit my two line Swaty with some serious grit
if it is still shiny I'm selling it because I can't seem to get it to hone worth a hoot

    edit
    20 minutes later

WOW was that Swaty (correction, 3 line Yugo Swaty, not 2 line)
    WOW was it glazed!!

    "Hello donut shop"

"yes, this is the chief of police and I would like to order 25 dozen glazed donuts with extra glaze please"

    I mean freaking GLAZED

    I used 80 grit followed by 320
I stopped at 320 and lapped with a several other hones to try to get a idea of hardness

    it is harder than
    Cushion Strop (tan aprox 6k)
    Pike Swaty
    Gem (grey aprox 8K)
Swastika ( grey no idea grit)
it's harder than coticule, frictionite, unnamed and a couple other finish hones but these were known to be soft

I'm sorry to have avoided answering

    I used sandpaper

I've never used a diamond plate, never had one.

the Austrian and Yugo are VERY hard
Even those I used sandpaper (3M wet dry 80 to break glaze 320 to finish WET)
stuck to some glass with water
stuck to the counter with water

I've found the Pike version to be softer and I wouldn't worry about eating up a big pile of paper

of course everyone already said this
    oh, they didn't?
    nevermind
