Thanked: 1195A Debate: Naniwa 12k vs Shapton 16
Gentleman (and ladies of course), I will be in the market soon for a final finishing stone, so I thought I'd start a discussion of two local favorites. I'm thinking mainly of performance and final edge produced, not necessarily of price.
So,
In the red trunks.... the newcomer to SRP and a new crowd favorite... the much recently lauded Naniwa 12k!
And it's opponent.... in the white trunks, with a solid SRP following and a solid track record... the Shapton "sweet" 16k!
Ding Ding..........

I love my Shapton 16k, but have yet to try the Naniwa 12k.
Hmm, this thread seems reason enough... =D

Ryan,
I have both, The Naniwa is great, I can't praise it enough, The Shapton is great too. You'll find that certain razor's benefit more from the Shapton, while some benefit from the Naniwa. If you can't get both right now, which eventually you will, get the Naniwa 12k first. It's a great hone, really. You'd be surprised what you can do with it. This is funny, I pm'd Max, and asked him the same question. He told me to get both....I already had the entire set of Naniwa's
Between the Naniwa 12k, Escher, Shapton 16k, it's real tough call, now I'm figuring out what Japanese Natural I want....We have assumed control !
