Thanked: 286cot/barberhone
When retouching an edge which i have never had to do yet even thought i have been shaving three years or so with straight reason why i'm always trying differant method with new hones but i am determined to let a blade get dullish so i can actualy refresh my edge rather than full honing. I guess i can use my coticule alone or bbw then coticule i also just got my self a never used 3 line american hone which is brand new believe it or not.
I'm not sure which one to use to give the best result i no barbers hone will be quiker. I'm sure some one has used both if so which one have you preferd using and why and how many laps on coti aprox i will try when the time comes but info would give me a head start. I'd rather not use paste for retouch i don't mind using it but only when my edge is good of hone. All i'm thinking is would my edge most likly be sharper of the barber hone or about the same as coticule with water.Idon't no so any info would be apreciated

I don't know about a barber hone being quicker. I guess it depends on the barber hone. I used the one I found in my grandpa's old stuff and it took me the better part of an hour and 30 minutes to refresh an edge.
It worked pretty well though and the part of the razor that wasn't already damaged was silky smooth and shaved a tiny section of face hair of quite nicely.

Barber hones will do the job. You have to know barber hone before you are starting to use it.
the hone which you name 3 line american hone is not for final touch up .it will better help you to sharp dull edge.
for final touch up there is couple different barber hones available.
Some names are , ispatch(not sure exact name),fractionate,Panama hone 2 sided,C-mon, etc etc. a lot of them but you need to use first to find out approximate grit of them.
Example above CMON YOU don't have to make 4-5 laps.
Frictionate by using it you can put final edge (similar to coticule)
There is PIKE with leather attached to back will do final job too. etc.
hope this helps
