    Default DMT-1200 Is This Normal?

I just received 2 new DMT 8"x3" plates yesterday. One was a 325 (course) and the other was a 1200 (fine). I opened the 325 and the plate had a consistent smooth surface and 4 legs were in the box. Very nice and flattened my other stones beautifully. The 1200 was in a box that had been opened and taped shut completely around because it had been torn. When I cut it open the plate was in upside down and the feet were missing. This didn't bother me though, I can get feet at the hardware store. What did interest me though was the finish of the diamond surface. It wasn't smooth like the 325 and looking at it with a magnifying glass I could see pitting where tiny air bubbles had popped and left small creators during the hardening process. Since this is my first experience with DMT products I just want to know if this difference in quality between the two is just normal?

    Regards.

If it was me I would contact the vendor. You might also go to the dia sharp website and give them a phone call here and ask them if that is normal. Sounds to me like you got a plate that was returned. BTW, if you go to the dia sharp site call, don't email. They don't answer email expeditiously IME but they are very customer service oriented and will talk on the phone with you.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
