    Default Perfect Swaty

I've been keeping an eye out on eBay for a Swaty and I just ran across one that looks to be NOS. What would be the high-end price you gents would shell out for one like it?

If you're a collector, then go ahead and bid on it. If you're a shaver, don't bother. One much uglier will go for much less and work just as well.

I'm not a collector just yet. For now I'm getting some things together before I order my first razor. I want to have a hone so when I need it the first time I'll already have it. The bidding is up to $37 or so which is what I expected to spend for a hone anyway.

The odds are good that the final bid for that hone will be double its current level.

It does look like it's in mint condition. There isn't actually a picture of the backside of the hone, but I'm going to assume it's as chip-free as the frontside. I agree with Utopian in that this hone is mainly a collector's piece, so expect the price to be much higher than a much cheaper version that will have the exact same functional value. I wouldn't be suprised if the bidding reaches over $100, but only time will tell! I don't want to win it, but I think it'll be worth watching over the next few days just to see how high it will go for.

This was in my watched list. Not because I want to buy it, just want to see how crazy the current market is.

She's not perfect - she's too short! Seriously though, I'm with Utopian. Swaty's are great, but their name is out there. You'll be able to pick one up cheaper if you don't mind her looking a little rougher. After all, as long as you can lap one side, she'll work just fine.

I agree. The one with a few chips on an edge .... or more than a few is the one to get. You have to round the edges anyway so you're better off leaving the pristine one for the fellow who wants to display it in his collection.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Default Dixie

I also found one by the name Dixie Hone. Anyone heard of that brand or is it just one of the many hones out there?
