    HELLO
I am looking to purchase a Chinese 12k hone to add to my hone set. Any suggestions as to where to get the best price on one ?

    Thanks

I think Woodcraft has pretty good prices on the Chinese 12k hones. I got mine there for around $40.

    Cheers,

Got mine off the bay, from a guy in Poland. He's got some sort of shaving shop. Let me see if I can find it....

I got mine from the guy in Poland too. Just do an ebay search on "Chinese hone" and it will pop up. He gets $20 for them but when you add the $20 shipping it kinda works out to the same price as a Stateside vendor.
The website makes them look blue, but the stones are a mottled dark gray color.

I would just go to woodcraft. the 2" wide version is only 19.99.

I too a hacksaw to mine to make a slurry stone when i had one.

I've got the $19.99 one from Woodcraft. I find the size to be plenty big enough. I have also used the larger one, and when I went back to my "small" one I found that I personally didn't miss the extra size. I also hand hold my hones, and the big one tired out my arm...

I bought mine in zloty, as it came out a lot nicer with the exchange rate to kronor.

This one has a slightly different name, but it's the same stone: clique

Strangely enough it doesn't show up in the ebay search.

I also got mine at Woodcraft and got the narrower hone. Plenty good and you can either hacksaw an inch off for a slurry stone or Zib has them for sale in the Classifieds.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I got the bigger one from Woodcraft. The nice thing about the bigger one is that you can lap both the wide and the narrow sides and have two hones. Yes, it costs more but it's only $35 and given that the Chinese hone is slow, to me it's worth it to have the larger surface area to speed it up a bit.
