Default Double Check re Shapton 16k and DMT8c

I have a chance to pick up a Shapton 16k, which might be used either to progress beyond my Nani 12k, or used just for touch ups.

I already have the DMT8c that I use for lapping my Nanis from 1-12k.

Is the DMT8c okay to use on the Shapton 16k?

If I have to buy another lapping plate, then I will probably pass on the Shapton 16k.

    Thanks.

Yes the D8C is fine for that.

+ 1 on Jimmy's comment. I use my DGLP for mine, but I have an 8C and it works fine as well.

I have been using a lapped fine grit carb stone on my Shaptons and find the surface feels much better that the DMT. The carb laps much less material and honing feels very smooth. IMHO
