Thanked: 6About how much should I expect to pay for a barber's hone?
I've seen them going for $35 dollars, and $90 dollars. I dont want to overbid and get ripped off, I want one for functional use rather than as a collectible. Anyone have any general price range advice?
thx

I wouldn't pay more than $20-25 for one, personally. Got mine from a fellow shaving enthusiast for a whopping $8 about a year ago.

You shouldn't pay too much, as Adam said. You could just post a WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the classifieds here for a barber hone. That would be a little more reliable than buying on ebay where it can also be a gamble.

It actually depends . A good barber hone will cost more . overall 25 is not bad price.

Thanked: 3795It completely depends upon the brand of hone and its condition. Your question is the equivalent of "how much should you pay for a car?" If you want to buy a decent Swaty, expect to pay $35. If you want a Swaty knockoff, expect to pay less than $20. If you want a decent Frictionite, expect to pay at least $50. If you want a Carborundum, you can't have them because they're all mine!
