What I recommend is getting the three stone naniwa set from SRD and forgetting about all of the rest.

Surgical Black Arkies and Translucent are only around 1000-1200grit....
We have assumed control !

I was just looking at those. I think they are 10-12K (?) whereas the soft/hard whites are < 8K. Another user posted a link to them here: Best Sharpening Stones
