    You don't want the abrasive coming off of the sandpaper to mix with your slurry. Even the finest wet/dry sandpaper will have much larger particles than a coticule.

    I bought a cheap knock off diamond stone for this purpose. DON'T make the same mistake i did, go for the DMT. I did not notice till I started slurry with Japanese natural and felt crunchy sensation which I have to conclude it is polycrystataline cheap diamond comming off.
