Thanked: 25Need help identifying a Swaty type hone
I picked up a few swaty type hones one of them is in the box and appears unused. There is a label over the embossed name that reads "Shaving sharpness is made on the hone". I do not want to remove the label. The printing on the box is unreadable.

Can you rub the label and see what raised imprint in the hone you see under the label?

Thanked: 25label
The label is one of those metalized ones and I can not make out what is under it. I will probably have to remove the label if no one recognizes it.

Not sure, but it's not a Swaty. All Swaty's that I've seen have a rectangular cutout where the lettering is. You could check the Barber Hone Characteristics thread - there are a fair number of pictures in there.

Thanked: 96Isn't there a rectangular cut-out with lettering on it under the sticker?

Looks to me like the cutout is an oval, but I could be wrong.

Looks more like an oval sticker over a rectangular cutout.
Try putting a piece of paper over the cutout and rubbing a pencil over it.

Thanked: 96Yah, my eyes are pretty good and I'm pretty sure it's oval sticker over rectangular cutout... but that doesn't mean it's a swaty... there's at least 5 or 6 manufacturers I've come across in the past week that used rectangular cutouts on their hones.
I think the best way to find out is to remove the sticker, second best is to search that catchphrase "Shaving Sharpness is made on the hone" to fine a manufacturer who used it in an advertisement.
Did the seller tell you it's a Swaty?/What makes you think it's a Swaty?
