Naniwa lapping plates and their flatness
I just saw that SRD has Naniwa lapping plates for a really nice price ($22). Just like with the Norton plates that are similar I have one concern: How flat are these, and will they result in having a flat wetstone after use? For this price it sure beats messing around with a sheet of sanding paper on some surface.

If that's what they're for, I'm sure they're flat. I don't know if there tolerances are .00001 or something, but I'm sure there fine for flattening a stone. I've use Norton's with good results. Do what i do, take a straight edge, lay it diaganolly across the stone or plate and hold it up to the light. If you don't see any light between the edge and the stone or plate, it's flat.....

I don't know about the less expensive one but a friend bought the more expensive one and loves it. He said that it is huge and goes through anything like a hot knife through butter and is as flat as can be.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

For the price I should just try it.... well, in a few weeks I'll have a US address, so it makes shipping from US shops a whole lot easier.

Feel free to bring some Sweedish Women back to the states with you. I'll find room in my place for them to stay....Especially if they look like the girls from ABBA. The lapping plates do a good job of removing material. They have those huge groves cut into them.
Personally, I like my DMT's, D8XX and D8C. I lapp lot's of hones because I sell them. The D8XX is an Animal. It removes unwanted stone, like nobody's business....We have assumed control !
