If it's not stone from another High grit japanese, would the grit from the nagura pollute the slurry? What is a recommended nagura for this stone and where can I get it?
I use a 1.2k DMT for slurry on all my hones above 1k grit.
Not all natural stones work well with Nagura for slurry. As far as I know Nakayama works fine with Nagura but Oohira Suita does not work with Nagura, it works with diamond plate nagura better.

Perfect, as I have a 1.2k DMT already. I take it the diamonds aren't at risk as they would be in lapping as I'm not spending nearly as much time abrading.

Thanks for all the help. I can't wait to see what she can do with some water. I'll probably put off slurry for awhile. Less chance to screw anything up.

I can't be sure but I doubt you will wear your DMt on any hone that is not diamond too. you are crating a light slurry not lapping so you will be fine.

I was referring to the reported problem from using high grit DMT's to lap especially hard stones (where the slurry manages to create enough friction to destroy the surface the diamonds are adhered to, freeing them). But I imagine this only presents a problem when you are rubbing the two together for a much longer period of time than I will be using to get a slurry started, when I do. Good, I just wanted a little confirmation that this wasn't going to destroy my DMT, otherwise I would buy a cheapo 4" one instead of using the 8" $70 doublesided I already own.

You can use dmt 1200 just don't put any pressure on the hone. use it is own weight and a little water.
let us know how it turns out

Will do. Stone shipped today and I paid for EMS... so sometime next week I'm hoping. Who knows, maybe even by saturday (dubious, but possible).
