Thanked: 96Perfect, as I have a 1.2k DMT already. I take it the diamonds aren't at risk as they would be in lapping as I'm not spending nearly as much time abrading.
Thanks for all the help. I can't wait to see what she can do with some water. I'll probably put off slurry for awhile. Less chance to screw anything up.

Thanked: 96I was referring to the reported problem from using high grit DMT's to lap especially hard stones (where the slurry manages to create enough friction to destroy the surface the diamonds are adhered to, freeing them). But I imagine this only presents a problem when you are rubbing the two together for a much longer period of time than I will be using to get a slurry started, when I do. Good, I just wanted a little confirmation that this wasn't going to destroy my DMT, otherwise I would buy a cheapo 4" one instead of using the 8" $70 doublesided I already own.

You can use dmt 1200 just don't put any pressure on the hone. use it is own weight and a little water.

Thanked: 96Will do. Stone shipped today and I paid for EMS... so sometime next week I'm hoping. Who knows, maybe even by saturday (dubious, but possible).
