Thanked: 96Yeah, he has a full section that's a history of sold stones.
And BabelFish translates it to something very similar to "CloseOut". That was where I started browsing. Took me awhile to figure out that I was looking at his already sold stones.

Here are the 2 I bought last:
I love the Google translation of one of his comments: "Ultra rollicking products. Is Machigainashi ACT." The Babelfish translation is as good "Super large eyeball item. The quick person it wins and you are not wrong is."
Hard not to want a "super large eyeball rollicking product."
330mate 天然ç*¥çŸ³ ç*¥çŸ³ 天然ç*¥çŸ³è²©å£² ã•ã‚žã‚ŒéŠ˜ç*¥ æ*£æœ¬å±±
I have lapped them and am pretty pleased with the performance of both.Last edited by Pyment; 12-13-2009 at 08:02 AM.

Thanked: 326If I were you, I'd source them from either JimR, OLD_SCHOOL, or Zethlent as they too live in Japan and are more reputable. I personally can vouch for both Jim and OLD_SCHOOL. Outstanding customer service and shipping.
You cannot go wrong with these guys.
Further you can check out Alex Home Page. His ebay handle:
japanblades. I spoke with Alex on phone. He's very knowledgeable and a member here as well.Last edited by SiRed8; 12-15-2009 at 07:51 AM.

Thanked: 11I've bought 5 stones from 330mate in the same several years I've bought 5 combination coticules.
I have gotten a unique and useful stone every time so far. Twice I got much more than I expected and 3 times exactly what I'd hoped for. The belgians cost considerably less. I paid 150-400 each for the japanese and maybe 1/2- 2/3 as much for belgians of equal size. I don't regard either one as overpriced. I intend to purchase again from whoever has a stone I can't live without, but 330mate will be under consideration whenever I've grown spare money.
None of the 10 stones are for sale.Last edited by mitchshrader; 01-19-2010 at 04:27 AM.

Thanked: 7Can anybody tell me how his (330mate) Website works? Everytime I log in (I got an registration confirmation) and I press the english language button, it redirects me back to the login page.
The google translation produces only rubbish.
Ba now I ordered 4 kitchen knifes and three nakayamas via Ebay. One of the stones differs totally, 2 are soft and brownish, the one is hard and grey/blueish with some brown veins. It is still a usable stone. The stones have some little cracks, which don´t influence the sharpening and are more or less according to his weiry ebay descriptions. But the results, especially on hard steal are more than satisfactory. It´s a kind og gambling, but I still feel to have won...

There really doesn't seem to be any English translation section you get access to by registering. At least I haven't found it.
I used to use both the Babelfish and Google translations to help me figure out things. As I have learned more about Japanese naturals, more of the flowers and muscles and penetrailia have made sense.
I have figured out ways to use the search function and now know that all the names of the different mines are on the map page so you can search for Nakayama 中山 or Okudo 奥殿 or Ozuku 大突 or asagi.
