good finisher?

anybody ever try these for a finishing stone?

Lots of people have them. IMHO it's a decent finisher, but a VERY slow one. There are better options out there, but you really can't beat the price.

I use one and I like the finish I get off it. It just takes a long time very slow cutter. But like ookla said it is great for the price. You just have to do several passes my normal finish on this stone is 100+ passes.

That's the Chinese 12K that has been the topic of many threads. The previous posts seem to have summed it up pretty well, but if you search for "chinese 12K" I'm sure you will find a bunch of info.

they are slow with water onley but if you make a slury with it ,it does the job a lot faster , then finish it off with water only.

Just got mine today. Lapped it, gave it a try and it does a good job but as stated before, it is slow. Think I'll give it a try with slurry next to see if it's any faster.

Send zib a PM. He did have them and maybe still does. ChrisL had some too but I think he sold out. You could also buy an 8" stone and cut 1" off. BTW, your post prompted me to use mine to finish a razor last night and it was very good off of the Chinese 12k with 125 weight of the blade strokes. No slurry BTW.

After a lot of strokes -- lots and lots and lots -- I tried mine dry. Very pleased. No damage to stone or razor, and very quick edge. I figured the stone was inexpensive enough to experiment with. That doesn't mean you can't polish more wet, but give it a try dry.

I dont recall hearing anyone mention using these with a DMT-slurry. I'm sure several people must have tried. Is it not doable or not useful for some reason?
