    I think that you cannot go wrong with either the Norton set up, the Naniwa Super Stone set up or the Shapton set up. These stones provide the most consistent results for not only the beginner, but for those with a little experience as well. The Norton 220, 1K, 4K are a little more abrasive on the razors while the Shaptons feel harder and the Naniwas feel a little softer. I would normally recommend that if someone wants a natural in their learning stages, that they try a finishing stone first as from a consistency standpoint, they normally will have more success here quicker.
