Hones in Victora, Australia
Hi all
I've recently been looking for a couple of hones and found that
one of my favorite stores sells them.
For those interested the link is Hones

Thanked: 77Cheers.
Haven't been looking at hone prices lately, but it is still worth checking out overseas sellers.
Sometimes it works out cheaper buying it overseas rather than locally - even for the same hone.
All the best,
Michael.

Hi Michael
I was thinking those in melbourne could walk in and walk out with a hone if they keep then in stock in the store.
You can also get a 10% discount if you join the mailing list. They email you with specials and pre-order deals aswell.
Regards

I don't know who makes those hones or if they are any good, but they look extremely expensive to me... Maybe I'm missing a currency conversion? Try comparing to Norton's or Naniwas from US websites.

Postage cost is usually the biggest impediment to buying shaving equipment from the USA. I've recently started looking at getting some good vintage DE razors off eBay but the postage is usually more expensive than the razor.

Thanked: 77Hi Will and others!
Yes I agree - walking in to the store and getting discount can save money, but - it is still worth checking a few online sellers (esp. overseas).
eg. A Naniwa 8K superstone in one US store is just under $60 US, plus $30-40 US for postage. Let's say about $100 US all up. This is around $111 Aus.
This is compared to the $189 Aus for an 8k stone bought in Australia.
It is a bit of a surprise - I remember when I first started looking locally and just couldn't find a decent price... but there might still be something out there.
Happy New Year! (Better go give my wife a kiss!!)
All the best,
Michael.

Thanked: 2591Those look like Suehiro stones, which may or may not work well on razors.
If you want to get at least a few of the Naniwa supestones check this guy out:
eBay Store: Search results for Japanese tools metalmaster.
the guy does free shipping, and his stones are the thick 2cm versions.
EDIT:
he also appears to have added 10cm version to his listStefan
