Thanked: 1262Keen Kutter Combination Help
So I got this Keen Kutter hone finally. Unfortunately i just realized I bid on the one where the instruction in the box are rusted away.
Does anyone have one of these that would take a pic of the instructions? I was going to play around with this tonight, but always try to follow the instructions to the letter when i first get them. Plus i'm not quite sure which side is which.
Btw..this thing was a pain to lap. I had to lap a ton off the top, had tons of little holes, almost like coral.
thanks!

In your linked album, it looks like it says "water, soap-sud(s?), or oil" on the bottom left corner of the lower lid.
On all of my combination hones, so far, the logo sides seem to be the finest grit.

Thanked: 1262Well I found a picture of the instructions
I did 5 strokes on each side with my Simmons Barbers pet. Under the scope it looks good and just a few non-shave tests seemed o.k.
Will shave with it in the morning and see Barber hones are fun.Last edited by Slartibartfast; 01-28-2010 at 03:07 AM.

Dark side is coarse, light side is fine. They recommend 4-5 strokes on the dark followed by the same on the light with 'clear water', although lather will work as well.
I love my KKK hone. I just can't take it out in public.

I have one too. What grit do you estimate the two sides are? Something like 8K and 12K?
