    Default Hey Hey NORTON!

My Norton kit arrived today 220/1000 4000/8000 and a flattening stone along with a DVD. Now it's time to read read read! Before I lay steel to stone! Thread suggestions accepted.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

You can also use the circle and X progression that Lynn developed and that lots of us (or maybe just some of us, or maybe just Jimmy and I) have been talking about recently on Norton's. You may have to tweak the numbers a bit, but, as with all honing, the numbers are not set in stone anyway.

I wouldn't say at all. I honed a razor the other day where I almost just wanted to store it in a bucket of FeCl3 or saltwater or something and just dissolve it away in retribution. That same day I also hone a blade that went so quick and easy "a baboon with opposable thumbs could do it." (thanks Alan II for the quote)

But definitely the circles. From personal experience circles are really helpful. I am not too sure about the necessity of the x's but I guess the pro's all do them and I figure it can't hurt so....

I'm assuming you bought this kit on Amazon.com?
I've had a look at the offer, seems great value. I've shopped quite a bit on Amazon, but this particular kit will not be shipped to Europe where I live. Can't understand why. Are there any other stores who offer a similar kit that can be shipped out of the US?
