To Chamfer or not to Chamfer
Hey Guys.
I recently acquired a smaller sized (125mm x 25mm) Thuringian. It is lapped and unused and will remain so until I finish a couple of restorations to the point of honing. It is my instinct to chamfer each edge of each side... but I am thinking that with the stone being so narrow I may not want to sacrifice any of the surface area. Saying that, I envisage problems finishing on an unchamfered stone, with the possibility of undoing plenty of hard work through dragging or snagging an edge. What do you guys think? To chamfer or not to chamfer?

IMHO,I would go ahead and give it a smallish chamfer.

If you bought it , to use , chamfer it . It doesn't take much , a very small chamfer is all you need .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

I'd say chamfer it. All you need to do is round the hard edges, and you need not do so significantly.
