Default Was going to buy a coticule but....

Was going to buy a coticule but I just found out that I'm moving to Europe in a few months. It would be nice to pick one out at the factory, but will they be way more expensive with the Euro and VAT? Should I buy here in the U.S. or wait until Europe?

Are you going to Belgium ? If I was going to be in the neighborhood of Ardennes I would pay Rob a visit and pick one up in person. Add the experience to the value of the stone.

Buy one here and one there, and then compare.

I would imagine it doesn't change a lot. In my experience, taking off VAT and adding shipping to the US on a heavy package evens out. If you're going to be near Ardennes, then DEFINITELY take a trip to the quarry.

+1 on the cost and visiting the quarry. Plus, why would you want to carry the extra weight? It would kind of like coals to Newcastle.

That sound GREAT to go to Ardenns and hand selecting my own coticule instead of getting what ever arrives in a package! I like to read about your experiance so please post something after your visit!

Europe is a very big place! If you were going to spain or italy for example, it would be a long way to Belgium just to get a coticule!

You're way too practical and logical ... What are you doing in a straight shaving forum with all us passionate lunatics?

That is why my first question/sentence was,"Are you going to Belgium?"

Not going to Ardennes, but only about 2 hours or so from it. And I won't be moving there for about 6 months or so. That is why I had the dilemma, buy one now at U.S. prices or wait six months and pay in Euro and VAT. Great to pick out your own stone, but not if it cost $100 more.
