    Default HHT: Victory is Mine!

It being payday and all, tonight was my bi-monthly straight razor touch up hone. The fleet is only 3 deep so this isn't a huge chore. I got all three of them done, (thank you Mr. Abrams for your Pyramid Technique cheat sheet). Now none of these razors were horendously dull before the hone in fact all three had rendered at least DFS this week, the Boker as early as this morning. But coming off the hone all three seemed absolutely incredibly remarkably sharp. Then I got an idea...try the HHT! I know, I know it's dumb but hey, simple things for simple minds. My first problem was finding a hair. Being a bald guy, the only ones I could produce was chest hair (long enough but curly and unsuitable for the test.) Then I got the idea to pull hairs out of a long lost Marvy boar brush that I use to lather my strop (it sheds to much hair to use on my face.) Success!

The first razor was my 5/8 Imperial Extra Hollow Ground. Much to my surprise the hair was cut with an audible pop. "Holy **** says I, it works!" I had prepared myself for failure saying that even if this doesn't work it doesn't matter if this thing gives me BBS shaves. The Frederick Reynolds wedge took a bit more doing but the hair was eventually lopped in half, very much to my surprise. You could have knocked me over with one of those hairs when the Boker Red Injun followed suit. I know, this is dumb and really doesn't mattter but I was really stoked that they all did it and had to tell someone. I told my son and he just looked at me like I was retarded so I figured if anyone in the world would understand it would be you guys. Victory is mine! Not bad for a Port Tampa kid with an Ace Hardware wet stone huh? I'll bet tomorrow's shave will be epic.

I felt the same way when I first got it and I too posted a thread about it. I confess that even though I know it really doesn't matter I still get a big kick out of it when I hone a razor that passes HHT all along the length of the blade. Even if it doesn't I still get a DFS though. Anyhow, congrats on getting the HHT.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
