Just got home a little bit ago, I drove work nuts about the stone
I'm about to work on another razor tonight so after I run that razor threw my regular stones I'll break out this monster. Check out it's scratch patterns and such. I did run one of my (AS damascus 150 petty) kitchen knives across it to get a feel, good feedback, hard, and seems to cut well. But thats not what I'm testing it for Razor finish is all I need to know about with this monster
My impressions and all will show up in a few hours... Now how does one grow a bread faster... Oh well the shave test will have to wait till tomorow night...

Ok 4:30 AM here so this will have to be fast as I'm really suposed to be trying to sleep... Ya right...
Well sadly the Kenji are gone, I had to lap it something fierce... I tried 2 razors on it and was getting really screwy feedback. At times the blade seemed to just lift off the stone and was bumpy, like soft sand... Yet I couldn't feel anything on the surface...
So I lapped it, at first I just ran my 1k glass stone over the top just to see what pattern I got... Oh boy was it off... So I broke out the 125 DMT and made it flat... Than I hit it with the 325 DMT, than flipped it over to the smooth side and rubbed it over the top a few more times and got it wicked smooth again.
NOW it felt like a proper stone, I'm sure it is going to smooth out a hair as I use it but it sure is looking good now. I went back and tried both razors again and the polish was pretty good for just a few (dozen or so) strokes. I don't think it's a fast cutter but I only have 2 Japanese stones and they are about the same cut rate
So far I think this stone has to be used after the Coticule, the Ohira stone may be to far a gap. But I haven't played that out to far yet, have lapped it after I tested that...
Off to bed, more testing after I wake up...

First shave off the Asagi went ok, not outstanding, but that has to be expected. First time shaving with the Case tested XX razor as well. After lapping the Asagi I was able to feel the stone alot better but I can tell i need more practice with this stone. I'm sure I can get a better edge than what I had on the Case. I'll try an established shaver next time and see how it shaves off the stone.

After about 10 razors done on this stone I noticed I have to go alot slower over the hone or I get a bit of hydroplaning. I still haven't tried it with slurry as I really don't like slurry honing, but i'm told it helps and one day I will try it... just not any time soon
Polish is fantastic

Well I've done at least 40 razors on this stone now and a couple kitchen knives.
As I learn more about this stone the better it gets I've been experimenting with sluury on this and must say it does better with a slurry, something I don't do on any other stones. So it was weird trying to get that up and running. I haven't gotten a slurry stone yet from Mark (sorry been busy), so what I've done was to rub my Ohira over the asagi to get some mud made. I'm not talking alot here, more like enough to make the water dirty looking. So far the edges I get off just that much slurry has been amazing and fast. From my understanding the floating grit breaks down as you hone getting finer and finer till it just rinses off and your left with clean stone. 10 passes and I'm done with the hone and the edge looks SOOO good. I do 20 passes on Cro2 and about 50 to 60 on leather, always after getting off the stones... The shave is AMAZING Now I need more stones...
