Thanked: 202Another one of those German hones
I got my paws on this one originaly thinking it was just ordinary slate, but when I took it out of box it showed me this label. Colour is uniform gray. In the picture the darker areas where my fingers were touching and stone got moisture from the fingers. Stone is fairly soft. Slurry is light grey ish white colour.
Does anyone has more info about these?

i think it is thuringian or escher.i do have hone acts .color etc similar to escher except labor says fredmanns water razor hone. I think at that time companies were buying it and then put up their label.iam on cell phone cannot see pics very well.will check when i got home again.
Edit: i did get home and check the pictures better.
yes i still think it is Thuringian or an Escher stone with different name. gl playing with it.Last edited by hi_bud_gl; 05-01-2010 at 02:06 PM.

Thanked: 2209I agree with hi bud gl. That is a Thuringen/Escher/German Waterstone type of hone. They are a finishing stone. Use with either water or dry but never with oil or lather.

That's a very good stone, like they said above. Use it with slurry too if you want, it won't dull the edge like other stones with slurry would. Make sure you make a lot of laps.

What luck! Congratulations on your Escher type Thuringian, as it certainly appears to be. Should improve your shave quality a tick or two.
