Mine are useless too. It'd be great if you could get them re-finished.
As it is I use them occasionally as a flat surface for lapping with paper. That's my version of recycling!

You could call Dia Sharp on the phone and ask. My guess is that it wouldn't be cost effective for them to do it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 522Maybe they will agree to recondition yours or take your old ones in trade for a new one.
Give it a try. All they can do is say no.JERRY

It does seem like a shame. It's a BIG lump of nickel-alloy... if nothing else, might a scrap yard take it?

If Dia Sharp won't recondition it and if it is no longer usable glue a piece of top grain or felt to it and do chrom-ox or diamond spray. It still is a flat surface and would lend itself to that rather than the trash bin.

Maybe take to machine shop or if you have a mill you can perfectly flatten it.
Still thinking of a way to tightly mount sandpaper without glue, so that it can be removed. Ive used my naniwa 220 as a lapping stone and worked great. But it still needs lapping. Glass and paper works fine...but its still a sheet of glass id rather not deal with.
