    Default Determining hone grit rating

    Ok, I've found a vintage combination hone from China (picture below). The problem is the seller says that he doesn't know the rating on it because rating print has been worn off the hone. Just wondering how hard it would to be determine what it is and if I should purchase it or stay far far away from it.

    For razors I would pass. Aluminum oxide combo hones are generally too coarse IMO.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
